Apply gently, then rub in with a wooden spoon.

I was nervous about installing after reading the reviews. I have an old Kohler tub with slightly textured stripes on the bottom that were no longer effective. I scrubbed the tub thoroughly with a soft scrub and an abrasive nylon sponge. I rinsed the surface thoroughly and wiped with a microfiber cloth. I let the surface dry for a few hours and then buffed the surface again with a dry microfiber cloth to remove any cleaner residue. In the meantime I pulled the stickers apart leaving the protective paper in place. Once I made sure the surface of the bathtub was absolutely clean, dry, and dust-free, I laid out the paper-backed stickers in whatever pattern I liked. Now the boring part! When the paper backing is removed the stickers become transparent with a light color and textured finish. (Consider putting a screen protector on your smartphone.) Work slowly and carefully and DO NOT touch the sticky side of the sticker. After removing the paper from one sticker, carefully place it back into your composition at the bottom of the tub. Roll it over the surface to avoid air bubbles. The bubbles will appear lighter and the areas where you have full adhesion will appear darker. Now rub HARD over the decal with the edge of a wooden spoon to remove any traces of light areas that indicate trapped air. Repeat this process until all of your decals are in place. Check again for slight air pockets, especially around the edges! If necessary, you can use a needle to clean the large bubble, and then rub HARD with a wooden spoon to stick it. You can wear down the rim of your wooden spoon, so don't use your favorite spoon for this. The instructions state that you should wait 12 hours before using the bath. Do that! While mine are stuck! Time will tell if they stay that way, but no one can say I didn't do my best to prepare the surface and install them carefully.
