Original ink, it doesn't get any better.
Original Brother ink and it works fine. Can't compare how long it takes/doesn't take as the printer is primarily used to print images. The quality of the ink on the photo paper is excellent. Just don't make the mistake of printing on the wrong side of the photo paper.
