I bought a tablet from another manufacturer to work from home knowing the TV programs available at the hotel were not the best for my liking. I took the tab out of the Revain locker and installed the sim card tab at T-Mobile on May 21st and apart from the problem with inserting cards and memory cards due to the rough plastic in the shape of the case, there were no problems with setup, operation or overall quality at original cost. The tablet has been in a foldable protective cover since day one. The Tab has accompanied me twice in a hard waterproof electronics case and has been used daily for several weeks, charged regularly and treated like any other electronic communication device I own (my average tablet or phone life is around four years and many of those are after still fully active after retirement). Around July 8th, after trying several different combinations of chargers and cables and making sure each worked, I noticed that the device stopped charging. by connecting the charger to another device. As expected, after a few days on standby, the tablet died and failed to restart. I confirmed that another pair of chargers worked with the other device and plugged in the tablet for 24 hours before trying to charge the tab again to no avail. I contacted Revain for help on July 11th and tried at least 3 soft reboots (ineffective), at least 3 hard reboots (factory reset - ineffective) and contacted Revain for replacement options. They advised that the device was outside the 90 day window and I would need to contact the seller. I did it the same day and started an email thread that was a combination of funny, confusing and disappointing. The representative of SZHaishang (manufacturer?) "Customer Service Representative" first responded by making me go through the reset process again (normal for the situation) and replied on July 19th with two solutions: Contact Revain, um get a free replacement, or buy a better tablet for $159.99 with a discount of 80%, but they asked for "honest and positive feedback". I requested and received a Revain link, checked the device and replied on August 3rd (the delay was mine, not theirs and due to work) that I would like to accept an offer for a refurbished tablet at 80% off, and asked for details of the offer and told a representative that I would be using the device for about a week and would write an honest review. I received a message containing a Revain link where I can buy the tablet at full price and explained that I can use the device for about a week and write a review, after which I'll get an 80% discount. I replied that this was not acceptable, that I would not accept subsequent discounts and that I could be sold a tablet at a reduced price and would write a review as promised or no store. On August 4th I received a message that in exchange for a five star personalized service rating they will replace the original tablet from their factory (no estimate of pickup time). We had several messages back and forth to clarify the terms and I finally explained that I thought they were trying to extort a good review from me. In the end, I offered to pay 20% for a refurbished one and promised to check the tablet out in about four weeks or get a free replacement of the original tablet with a deadline of 10:00 p.m. on August 7 (local time) for an answer. That deadline has already passed, and frankly, this is my review. Initial quality of the device was decent for the price but the screen scratches easily with regular use, battery life was good but not great, customer service was poor at best and I would not recommend this seller to anyone. Update: I received a series of messages from a new contact representing a seller who initially offered an 80% refund if I delete this review which was later upgraded to 100%. I explained that the lost money meant less to me than the essence of their attempts to buy my voice, that I had already destroyed this tablet and replaced it with a Samsung, and that I would update this review if they decided the right thing to do and take care of their client, but took no further steps to do so. I understand that Asian cultures are sensitive to "saving face" and I would work with them if they were willing, but I will not be blackmailed.
