Nothing will ever be hidden in the dark in my pantry again

I bought my first LED strip a week ago and realized now is the time to light up some things I've always loved wanted to do, but suddenly terrible price. After making my closet with the first non-waterproof LE LED strip, I bought two waterproof LE 2835 daylight LED strips to make the bottom 5 shelves of my pantry. The results are even better than I had hoped. I chose the daylight option to clarify the search for a pantry. The movement switch ensures that they only activate when actively searching the pantry. I could have purchased aluminum rails to mount the lights to a wire post, but cost calculations and the number of small parts I had to manage held me back. Instead, I settled on some vinyl blinds that I had saved after downsizing a set of window blinds to create a mounting surface for my fixtures (otherwise I would have just bought vinyl strips from the trim department). The waterproof design of the lights ensures that a splash will not turn off the lights. Waterproof. This was my first installation of waterproof strip light. I had to attach new ends to 7 strips. I used the "correct" 8mm light strip for the barrel connectors (f). At first I thought I had to remove the impregnation from the contacts. Attempts to do so did not go well. I found that the connector slider cut right into the seal and made contact. I had to REDUCE the thickness of the seal by 50% by about 1/4 inch to allow the plug to close. I worked with some side cutters. I attached vinyl tape to the front of the wire rack and then attached it just below the top wire for protection. I chose to connect each shelf separately and install barrel connectors on the ends for easy maintenance of the shelves. For cable routing, I used a panel end cap overlay to hide the vertical cable routing from top to bottom. This worked great as I simply cut individual wires for each space between the shelves and then used a cylinder mount to connect the continuous power supply to each tier. I used 18/2 shielded safety cable for the leads. I'm at the beginning of their life cycle but have no problem with the glue. In the closet I attached it to wood and used masking tape to remove dust before installing the light. On the pantry vinyl I used some rubbing alcohol and wiped it clean before installing. The time will show. Each strip is rated at 24W (2A DC) so I use a 5A DC power supply. We left them on for a while to enjoy the visibility and now have a clean pantry that we had to empty, paint, mark and put back together for the first time in over 10 years. The light strips themselves only feel minimally warm. probably less than two bulbs in a ceiling light. I'm not worried about the pantry getting too hot. I chose not to do the top 3 shelves because the overhead light already illuminated them well enough. In general, fabrication and installation took about a day. This included time to think and at least one visit to the store.
