I first tried homemade gel in 2014 and wasn't impressed. I think I tried the SensatioNail system but it was so sheer and thin, easily filled in my cuticles, put on lots of layers and chipped almost immediately. I decided to give it another try hoping that home systems had improved over the years and was pleasantly surprised! This system is great! I paired it with a Red Carpet Professional LED that I bought years ago. The paints are smaller at 5ml but the brushes are still a regular size making them easy to use (I hate mini brushes). The color is very pigmented and not too runny (see photo of my first coat). I had no visible nail edge after two coats. The cure layer is just a layer of clear gel to add thickness and durability, which is nice, and the top layer doesn't require rubbing alcohol after curing (love this tweak!). Make sure you apply thin coats to avoid blistering and always cover the free edge with each coat to prolong the life of your manicure. I've barely worn my free edge for a week now and actually tested it out this week! I work in a wet chemistry lab and cleaned my house thoroughly this weekend! In general, I am very happy that I tried the gels again. You can't go wrong with this set!
