Great for short trips #3DSCASE

We like to play games in our house. My husband used to be a co-owner of a game store, so we have them everywhere and in all sorts of varieties. We have electronics, board games, card games, miniature games and dice games. Our children are inundated with it. It's no surprise that as our kids got older, we bought more than one Nintendo 3DS XL. I had a regular 3DS that was going to go to our oldest son when I bought the 3DS XL. Instead my son took my limited edition Super Mario 3DS XL for himself and we had to enlarge our devices so my husband and I could play our games. We had two tote bags, but when we got our third Game Boy, we ran out of bags. CTA provided me with their Nintendo 3DS XL protective case in exchange for my honest opinion. I have not received any other compensation for this review. This suitcase has a semi-hard shell. It's covered with so-called EVA material, which is black in color and has some texture. I like textures because it's easier to stick to. It comes with a carabiner that goes through a small gear loop on the outside of the case. This allows you to attach the case to something like a backpack or bag, but it's the only way to carry it other than hand-held. Texturing makes this a little easier. Inside is a soft material that will not scratch or damage your Nintendo 3DS or game cartridges. There is an area where your Nintendo 3DS XL fits which is held in place with a rubber band. It's sort of a pocket, so the Gameboy slips under the elastic into this little cavity where it fits snugly and is held in place by the elastic. Now Nintendo 3DS comes in different sizes and in my video I show a limited version of Pokemon that is much smaller than the original. It still fits in this section but does slide a bit. So if you have a smaller version, you should exercise caution when opening the case. There is a flap in the center of the case that provides additional protection for the system and accommodates three game cartridges on the opposite side of the case. System. There are three small pockets in which the cartridges fit perfectly and do not slip. They sit on the outside of a small mesh pocket that can hold an extra game or two. I'm not familiar with many Nintendo 3DS XL accessories, so I've packed more games into this section because I have more than three. They don't stay in this bag, so if you decide to keep games in there, be prepared for them to fall out, because that's really not what it was designed for. You can place additional pins there, but they also slide. The last section is just the top of the case. The only thing I could think of that could fit in there was a charger. It's not really meant for anything, but it seems like a waste of space to me, so I put my charger in there. I know I hate it when my system runs out of power and I'm not home to reach an outlet. When I travel, this is the one accessory I will definitely take with me. If you want to put the charger in a pocket, you have to insert the plug and then wrap the cord around it. I wouldn't try to really tie it because it makes it stand out more. You can zip the cover up, but it's very tight. If you can't zip up, try positioning the charger in a different way until you can. This puts stress on the zipper and *can* shorten the life of the case. I haven't had time to tell you whether that's true or not. I really don't think it was designed for a charger. Overall, it makes a pretty solid impression. I feel my Game Boy is pretty safe in it and even if I drop it it won't get damaged. I wish he would have played more games. I wish it was designed to hold the charger without having to force it shut. If you don't like taking all your games with you when you travel, or you have four or less, then this game is perfect for you.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • The list will go on.
