I first bought this size 4 for my daughter who wears a small shirt. It was too little. For my next purchase I had to go about 3 sizes larger. Luckily my other child who wears a 3t was able to fit it. It was a little roomy but she will be able to make it through this fall and maybe next spring, she's not growing that fast. But I would definitely take this sweater a few sizes bigger than it really is.
