They're pretty strong. This is a high quality product. The absence of metal parts, especially the hooks, makes them safer for your bike and for you if you fall and slide with it. In all the time they've been used, he's never weakened. You can actually pull them down if you want. The elastic part has a nice reflective X-shaped pattern that is clearly visible in the headlights. I just wish there was an inelastic part too. I used them to tie a collapsible deck chair to my bike over Remembrance weekend and I use them every workday to hold my lunch basket on the back of my motorcycle seat. .Easy and compact to pack into bags when not in use so they are ready when you need to carry something home.
