Drill leaves a lot to be desired - no clear instructions

Received as a New Year's gift for my almost 3-year-old child. He loves tools and pretends to operate his machines with his tools. When the package arrived I removed the car and its parts. It appeared to be packaged decently. This is only 1 car that can be converted into different cars shown. The assembly instructions aren't very clear, so it's kind of a trial and error process. The drill leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn't look like a real drill. Trigger does nothing. There is a switch on the top that you can screw in or out. You flip the switch and it works until you flip the switch back to the off position. This isn't very easy if you're trying to hold the screw to get it in. The RC aspect of it also sucks because it literally moves back and forth, the remote doesn't rotate. All in all I feel like it was a waste of my money because my kid won't be able to use a drill to twist the parts together and RC sucks. but there is a kind of screwdriver that comes with the kit. This is to get the screws in and out.
