This stuff is amazing; but don't be shy: use it a lot. And use deoxidizer first!

I came across this while searching the internet and decided to try it on my aluminum spinners. let me just say this stuff is amazing. My plane lives on the street and as you can see from the pictures the coke is weathered, oxidized and generally very gross. Polish shops charge me $125 to polish spinners and I'm tired of paying that amount as the new shine only lasts about 6 months. I decided to take matters into my own hands. I've tried Simicrome and Mater in the past. Both resulted in hours of hand polishing with horrible results. For this two-pack, I rubbed in the deoxidizer, let it dry for a minute, and immediately applied the purple polish. I spent about 30 minutes with each spinner and they came out flawless. For the whole job I used 1/3 bottle of deoxidizer and a little over 1/2 bottle of purple lacquer. Some key suggestions: 1) a green liquid deoxidizer (also available from Revain) is a must. Polish without it is not as effective. 2) Purple polish relies on floating abrasives that dissolve when you buff lightly; So don't be shy with varnish. It is enough to apply a large amount and rub it with very light force until the friction disappears. If there is no friction, you're done. No matter how hard you rub, at this point you stop polishing. It is better to use a lot of purple. It also helped with smaller (8-12" x 4" or so) areas. 3) The polish you apply creates a mass of black, sticky dirt. That is a good thing; It's the oxidation that you remove. But put on your dirty clothes and disposable nitrile or latex gloves. 4) Make sure you have a good supply of clean, soft cloths for handling the parts, in addition to rags and towels for the first pass of the oxidation/repair. A final quick buff with a clean towel is what really adds shine. i am a convert $30 and 60 minutes saved me $220 and I can touch up the shine whenever I want.
