I bought this because my kid needed a large concave mirror with a long enough focal length for a science project. Although the distortion on this mirror is lower than other magnifying cosmetic mirrors, the distortion is still quite significant, making it useless for optical experiments that require focusing. I know it may be unfair to shoot stars for a purpose this product was never intended for, but as far as these vanity mirrors go, the price is high and I expect better optics in return. Price. I measured the focal length at about 500mm. This is difficult to determine as there is no clearly defined focus on this mirror (hence the distortion). On the other hand, the reflective layer is directly on the surface with a thin protective layer, there is no thick glass to interfere with the reflection. And the picture is really good for looking at your own reflection.
