The SheaMoisture acne line is amazing. Trying to convince the boys in our house to use facial products that they consider "girly" or "artsy," that have floral or fruity scents, and come in all the colors of the rainbow isn't easy . The main reason is that the scents of these products tend to mix badly with the scent of the cologne that everyone wears, turning into a disgusting mess. I can't identify the smell that SheaMoisture's African Black Soap products have, but almost everyone who smells them likes it. It doesn't linger long after using a face scrub/wash, but it does stay in lotions. The smell is a little vanilla, but not in the sense that "your teeth hurt because it smells too sweet". Maybe there's some amber in there too. I know people have stopped and asked for my perfume when I was wearing skin lotion and all the boys in my family love the scent and find that it (usually) doesn't clash with the perfume they use. wear that day. As far as how these products work, there are no problems here. The cleanser is creamy and washes away dirt, grime and sweat without tightening the skin. It also doesn't leave the skin feeling like it's covered in some kind of oil or silicone like some types of facial moisturizers do. The peeling component is also not too aggressive for the skin. This is enough to cleanse the face well without leaving the skin red and irritated. The face lotion is great too. It absorbs quickly, leaves skin soft but not greasy or sticky, doesn't leave skin shiny, and if you shave before applying the lotion, you won't want to scream in pain. This is a great lotion that moisturizes dry patches without being so heavy that oily, acne-prone patches clog pores and make acne worse. If you have really dry patchy patches on your face you might want to add an extra product to help as this lotion is lightweight and doesn't fully address very dry skin. SheaMoisture has other products in the African Black Soap line and I (and my boys) highly encourage you to try these as well. Facial Rejuvenation Serum is great for acne and previous discoloration. Body soap is great for treating acne, and body lotion is ideal for treating CP (aka "chicken skin"), eczema, psoriasis, and other dry skin conditions. The only problem with the lotion is that it's thick as hell, making it difficult to pump out of the bottle. Soap bars are great for cleansing skin with eczema or psoriasis. Seriously, the whole line is amazing. And be sure to try their products for weak, dry, brittle hair. Oh my god I used these after a horribly failed salon bleaching and coloring experience and they saved my scalp and hair. A castor oil treatment is enough to make you believe. I think you can see how much I am a fan of these products. I'm a huge product junkie - health, beauty, skincare, haircare, lotions, potions, tools, treatments - you name it. I've lost count of all the brands I've tried that promised the moon but failed miserably. Some of them, like SheaMoisture, have been so great that I keep trying other products from their line, and every time they release new ones I try some of them too. For the most part I'm not yet disappointed with what they make and the ones I didn't like usually turned out to be the favorites of those who took them out to try. They're also certified fair trade and cruelty-free, and reinvest in small businesses and poor communities to provide women in poor countries with access to education, scholarships, and more. Not only do they produce a large amount of products, but they seem to be a pretty decent company. It's always easier to be a regular customer of a company that helps in so many ways and we're not ashamed to share the overall positive experience we've had with SheaMoisture products.
