This product looks great on my terrace and provides the desired ambient lighting on mild summer evenings. Since this was a tricky setup, here are some things to keep in mind. 1. The light strip is very bright and required a suitable dimmer for my application. 2. To install the dimmer, you need to cut off the power plug that connects to the light cord. You will then need to make a new connection using the supplied connectors that come with the dimmer. It didn't work on my first try because the dimmer didn't turn on the rope light. I was very impressed with the support from this company as they made sure I was happy with the new light and dimmer. 3. You MUST make a proper connection to the H terminal for the dimmer to work. It took 2 attempts to get the dimmer to work, but it finally worked when I inserted the connector directly into the cord light's wires. What a relief! 4. Have a clear sealant ready and be sure to use heat shrink tubing. 5. I found brackets to be a waste of time when hanging jigs and ended up using 1.5 inch cup hooks. They worked great and helped the rope lay flat under the railing. 6. I used 2 command strips behind the dimmer and attached to the deck post closest to the house. They are easily removed for winter storage and add a finished look to the installation. I waited a week before writing this review to check for any water or dimmer issues. At the moment the device works without any problems. If you don't need a dimmer, it works right out of the box but is bright! I would advise this company to have a ready made dimmer option so end users don't make mistakes during the connection process.
