We bought several styles of pool shoes at once hoping that one of them would really suit us - and this is IT! This little shoe has a non-slip rubber sole, very flexible but still a sole. This allowed our little guy to wear them on the pool deck and in the water without slipping and they protected his feet well from the hot pavement. We bought XS and it takes up little room to grow. The shoes are designed so that the "growth room" is behind the heel instead of at the toe to prevent stumbling. The shoes are tight and he loves them!
