Does not work with radios

I put in a new set of batteries and the display said it worked. But there is no sound even though the volume is full. So I tried a different set of batteries. Despite scrolling through the entire FM band, I could only hear the distant hiss when I held the unit to my ear at full volume. i give it back It may have been an accident, but it was an unexpected disappointment. I didn't try headphones because I wanted the speaker to work for my purposes.
