I live in cities and walk and bike a lot. These shoes don't give you too much cushioning but are very agile and comfortable. Rubber bands and patterns on the sole are very stubborn on concrete and asphalt. I have another pair that I've had for 4 years now and only the laces show significant signs of wear. They are made with impeccable craftsmanship (not surprising for a product made in Japan) and are built to last a very long time. I am happy with this pair and glad I now have two pairs of perfect 81 shoes to switch between wears. I knew I was a very good match for 8.5s with the last pair I had (different color and materials), but the store completely carries off 8.5s in the colors I was interested in. The seller tried to talk me into getting a 9 and I just felt like 8.5 suited me better. Ordered 8.5 and of course they fit just like my other pair and fit perfectly. It seems to be true to size as I usually get an 8.5 on other brands. A year later: I've had to adjust my rating since I received it. It's been a little over a year and I had to glue the sole to the toe of the shoe twice with shoe glue. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a common issue with this shoe. I think it was either covid production or a bad choice of materials, but the rubber outsole tends to want to tear the synthetic leather material away from normal wear and tear. I don't think this is a common problem with these shoes and I have included a comparison with another pair of mine that are around 6 years old now. My 6 year old shoes still seem spotless. Too bad for a brand that should be known for its optimal workmanship. I am requesting a recall or replacement coupon for this production run.
