Review on NAXA NS-438 Digital CD Micro System: Enhanced AM/FM Stereo Radio + Black Elegance by Herthoel Yanda

Decent, but could be better.

I ordered this system to use with my PC as I have a problem with my PC speakers and for that it is a very good product. The sound quality is good and it's small enough to fit on a cabinet above my monitor. A few words about the device. Remote control: The included remote control is small, looks solid and works. Unfortunately, it only works in CD mode. He can't adjust the volume or turn it on or off. It only has play/pause, skip and stop buttons. I haven't used it until today. Display: The display is brighter than the sun itself. I had to build a shield to hang in front to block the light so I could sleep at night. There is no way to turn off the display. Face Control: Pens feel cheap. I control most of the volume on the PC myself, so I don't do much with them, but they seem very light and poorly attached. The radio tuning knob is very difficult to operate and you may accidentally miss the station you are looking for 10 or 12 times before tuning in. The buttons don't work well either. The stereo FM button needs to be pressed twice to press or release. CD player: works. What else can I say? Auxiliary In Jack: By far the most frustrating thing about the radio is that when EVERYTHING is plugged into the aux jack, no other mode on the unit will work. Basically, you can't switch to the radio or CD player when something is plugged in. Sometimes I listen to the local public radio station and I have to turn off the computer for that. This was a big disappointment. In summary, if you're looking for something to use for PC speakers, you can do worse than this device. It's small and the sound is pretty good, but it's definitely not a great device.
