Review on Saramonic 2 Channel Microphone Interface Smartphone by Douglas Berry

Trial and error, but Smartrig Plus makes its mark.

I went through a lot to get what I needed from this device. I've included a video of me looping the rc 505 directly into the Dolby Digital app (highly recommended) on my iPhone 7 to show the end result. etc.) during the video recording as well as direct messages in social networks. I started with Smartrig II. It had some downsides for what I was looking for. It was delivered quickly when I paid a few dollars more. A few days maybe. I encountered a couple of stumbling blocks when setting it up. The biggest, without real-time headphone monitoring, which was absolutely necessary for me. Smartrig II tracks the processed audio only after recording. Not suitable for loops or multi-instrumentalists. Secondly, if you use the iPhone/Headphone Accessory Adapter to connect this kid to the phone, you must have a genuine Apple adapter, otherwise it won't work. I also had trouble finding apps that would recognize my new mic setup, but that might coincide with other issues I was having. If you're looking for apps that actually work, Dolby has a good one. Filmic Pro (about $20 I think). And I think Mavis works too. I like Dolby because it allows you to make a lot of adjustments to the recorded audio and it's free. I set up a return and bought Smartrig plus. The delivery was super fast again. This one was a bit more expensive but with some added benefits. Two entrances, of course. But in real time, ear monitoring 👏🏼 Oh. Both have phantom power, which works great. And both have a DSLR option (will update if I try it with my Canon Rebel t6). Both units are a little tricky to get the gain right, especially with multiple looper inputs and smart rigs. It took a long time for the hiss to stop or for the loud crunch of the overwhelming amplification to quiet down. A little goes a long way, and there's a fine line between not registering your sound or overdoing it. I had to keep recording a sample video and making adjustments. So once you've got it right, don't touch it. This took several hours. Be patient. All in all, this is exactly what I needed. It is also possible that the cheaper version will not allow real-time monitoring in the future. Good product. It changes the way you get good and easy music/video performances on your phone. Once again, be patient. That will work. And never stop creating
