This camera does not take the best pictures in its class. It's not particularly small or light. But today I shot a 30 fps VGA video of my son and I sliding down a water park slide together! All the way down! Last week I took a picture of me and a friend fishing in the bay. I let my 5 year old son eat whenever he wants. He dropped it on the sand on the beach; He dropped it on the tiled floor in the kitchen. No problem! You can take this camera where you never would have taken a good camera before. Water, sand, mud, rain, no problem. I have a good Canon when I need to get the perfect shot (I lost my Rebel to sand on a trip to Australia a few years ago - they said it was beyond repair and out of warranty). I have this camera to take pictures in places I've never been able to before. Two complaints -1. XD cards are hard to come by and expensive compared to SD cards. The camera comes with a Micro SD card adapter, but VGA video at 30 fps is limited to 10 seconds with this memory. The USB connector on the camera is not standardized, I haven't seen anything like it before. Don't lose this cable! It makes no sense. Background note: You can record VGA movies indefinitely (until your card is full) at 30 frames per second if you have an M+ or H XD type card and firmware version 1.1. It's a fact; i did this
