Review on MERKUR MK 70C Adjustable Double Safety by Roberta Berg

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I was skeptical at first, but I'm glad I made the purchase!

Some background knowledge. I've been using the wet shave for about a year and a half and I really like it. I have tried many DE safety razors and have followed in the footsteps of the beginners before me, starting with the Merkur 34C. I then switched to a Mühle R89, which was noticeably more aggressive but still manageable. After purchasing the Gillette Fatboy, it quickly became my favorite razor. It was very easy to shave with, typically maintaining settings between 3 and 5. It took me multiple passes to get a close shave, mostly due to my technique, especially when using lower settings. It didn't last long due to my acquisition frustration. to make me buy another razor. After a long search I came across this one. I've noticed a lot of people have said that it's very aggressive, but once you get used to it, it will get you in great shape. As I said before, I'm not usually in the best shape and I've been prone to cuts here and there. Despite all the talk about aggressiveness, I still wanted to try this razor (mainly because it looks great). As the title of this review suggests, I'm very glad I did. I always get a great shave with this razor. As you might imagine, it's not very forgiving, but it still leaves more room for error than even more aggressive razors. In terms of quality, the build itself is solid. It's quite heavy and feels very secure without rattling. The mirror finish on the Chrome model is immaculate and looks too good to be useful lol. Changing the blades and dismantling the handle is very easy. I didn't feel the need to end this review as anyone can go online and find many reviews on this particular razor. From someone who was initially skeptical I am very glad I bought this razor and I think it will soon become my favorite razor. Would highly recommend, if you're on the fence you won't be disappointed!
