I needed a lightweight, portable monitor for travel/work (and presentation demos) and I got this beauty at the last minute. It was very easy to set up - just plugged into my laptop and it was ready to go. The picture quality seemed bright and clear to me. I used HDMI/mini-HDMI to connect to my laptop, so YES, you need to connect it separately with a USB/USB-C cable and adapter. The only downside is that all the cables that come with it are only about 3 meters long. So for things like using USB-C for power delivery, I actually had to bring a longer cable from home to conveniently plug it in.
