I'd like to echo Mr. McGibblet's review. I'm also a fan of the Special Edition controllers, and he's right - it looks better in person. At first I thought the pivoting D-Pad was a gimmick, but I actually found that I prefer the middle 4 directions in the raised position. job title. The D-Pad still works like a "floating disk," meaning it can still slide northeast, rather than just north or just east. When other D-Pad directions are available in-game (e.g. Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest), the elevated configuration will help push the pad in the right direction. The graphics on the controller itself are not as glossy as the Halo Special Edition controllers (Halo 3 Spartan Wireless Controller for Xbox 360) and their texture is reminiscent of the matte black Xbox controller. Also, instead of a raised texture for the thumb, Microsoft opted for a concave center with the same rubbery texture, which I also see as an improvement. In the first few days, my right thumb creaked quite loudly with every movement. It was very annoying when I noticed it. However, the creaking went away after a few days of use. I just had to roll it. Overall, this controller looks great and lives up to expectations.
