My son is now 18 months old and slightly smaller than when he was 1 year old when we tried to break his thumb habit. He caught hand-leg-mouth within two months and really encouraged us to break his thumb sucking habit. We painted our nails with bitter nail polish but he kept sucking his thumb. We started using them exclusively at night because when we tried them out of the box in size he complained that we had to take them off. We had 3 rough nights and 2 good nights. We take them off when he wakes up and every morning there is less discomfort. We saw huge improvements throughout the day, almost stopped sucking his thumb except when he was tired and curled up to take a nap. I will accept any win and I know that small improvements are better. We pushed his thumb away when he started sucking his thumb and didn't complain that much. I am happy with this purchase so far. I found the YouTube video to be more informative than the instructions on the box. You get two thumb sucker plugs for the price of one compared to a well known brand.
