I'm a fan of Darn Tough socks, but they're expensive and I needed a sensible alternative to walk around the house on hardwood floors. These are even better than expected. Ordinary socks are baggy, the heel hangs on the ankle; These socks appear to be expertly designed to not only cushion in the right areas, but also fit snugly in all the right places for a very snug feel. Perfect to wear with boots to cushion your skin very comfortably. I don't care about bright colors, but it's okay, I just wear them tucked under my boots and around the house instead of slippers. For hiking: I would be careful with that. They definitely won't be warm enough for cold hiking days (use Darn Tough instead) and on warmer days they're likely to get very sweaty due to the predominantly cotton blend. I would probably limit my hikes to easy day hikes on moderately warm days.
