I have an old Logitech Z-680 that only has one optical, one digital coax and 3.5 direct inputs. I use optical for my TV but also want to connect my computer which has an optical but no coax output and I really don't want to use a 3.5" device. This lovely little metal box allows me to run my PC's optical out through it and it not only converts the audio but separates it too. What I mean is that I connect a toslink to this block, then connect a coax output to my logitech, and then connect another toslink to the output of the block and the viola. Now I can plug this Toslink into my soundbar for gaming/browsing without worrying about it being too loud. I've been running this thing since May 8th, 2020, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It didn't get warm at all, so with the power it's getting, ie micro USB, it should be pretty efficient. So it's easy to ask him. Heck, I could hook it up to my TVs or PCs if I wanted to, but I'm AF paranoid and don't load/load anything directly from my PCs/TVs.
