I had two plates in older boxes and they were my absolute favorites. I gave one to a friend and mine accidentally broke. I saw that there was a novelty item for sale here, so I thought it was the right move. While I appreciate the wider base and heat resistance, this thing barely closes. Because if a gust of wind comes from an open window, it can open again. With this problem, it is not as odor-proof as the old one. I usually keep everything in the closet and before that I had no smell. But I came back a day later and this thing smelled so bad I had to throw it out, there's very little reason to use it regularly unless you throw it out right away. I live alone, and obviously I don't hate the smell, but when nature smells like a pile of ash, it's going to stink.
