Review on REXING 3 Channel 170°Angle Recording Supercapacitor by David Crawford

Bigger, lighter and better than V1P

We bought a Rexing S1 DVR for my wife's car. I have a Rexing V1P Pro in my own car and was skeptical about the S1. However, I have to say that my fears were allayed. Rexing fixed some issues with previous versions and added some required features to the S1 such as: B. a significantly improved user interface and a larger screen. I was a little worried about the resolution of the rear and inner cameras (720p), but actually it's quite acceptable. It does not use the camera in the cabin as intended, but instead points it to the right and slightly forward, providing an excellent view of the passenger side of the car. This seems like the best use for it since it doesn't carry passengers. The device itself is quite large due to the screen size, which is larger (3 inches instead of 2.4 inches) and more comfortable to use than the V1P, but the weight of the device is significantly lighter. All cameras are adjustable and offer a very wide field of view. Night vision seems better than the V1P, but the infrared camera in the cockpit can be a bit overwhelming and blurry if misaligned. Overall, the recordings are very clear and should come in handy in the event of an accident. Installation was no more difficult than my previous experience with V1P, around 2 hours. You'll need a smart cable if you want to activate Parking Monitor mode, which records 20 seconds of video when contact is made with your car while parked. Some reviewers have indicated that you need to connect power to the rear camera. However, this is not entirely correct. The power line is used to add a rear view camera function. You connect a power cable to the backup lighting circuit, which then switches the device into backup mode. Her car didn't need this as she already has a backup camera so I can't comment on that feature. It also doesn't use audio recording, but I tested it and it works quite well. Loop recording works the same as the V1P, recording weeks of video to a 128GB SD card. It gets very hot in the car during the day, especially in the summer, but so far we haven't had any problems with this unit and it's August now. Units and will continue to use Rexing in the future.

Pros
  • SUPERCAPACITOR AND 24 HOUR PARKING SENSOR: Powered by a supercapacitor, a premium alternative to a lithium ion battery that is more heat resistant in harsh climates. With parking monitor function, dashcam will turn on automatically and record 20s video when dash cam detects vibration 24/7 even when car is parked.
