These reusable swabs have silicone tips instead of cotton tips. They are soft, flexible and washable. Smooth tips (rounded and pointed) are very convenient for makeup - applying concealer, lipstick, tinting. The structured tip is not suitable for make-up. They don't fit in the ears at all. Being made of silicone, they won't absorb water when you clean them after showering or swimming. They also don't actually "catch" earwax for removal like cotton does. They are good for crafting, especially the ones with a pointed tip. They are shorter than conventional cotton swabs. The small case is practical. It has notches to allow the tampons to protrude slightly from the bottom of the case. I really like the idea of reducing waste, but they are of limited use.
