Review on Pimpernel Multi-Color Placemats (6010648013) by Gary Duncan

Disappointing purchase

I've fallen in love with hard cork napkins since my first purchase in 2015 for a number of reasons: 1) Durability 2) Easy to clean 3) Can serve as a real tray especially when eating from the kitchen transport to another room 4) Easy to use when dining on the patio table due to its shallow depth which prevents small spills from turning into "cementous napkin glue" that attaches the napkin to the patio table. Think of your teenage son (Mom's no blame here. LOL) inhaling tacos and red taco sauce staining the white table while an unnoticed small hunk of ground beef rolls off the plate and then gets stuck between the napkin and the table. Was there, did it, and replaced the white table with a reinforced safety glass table. But I digress. My first set of cork towels had a dark background and an AWESOME clear plastic backing. This first set lasted 2 1/2 years and went through countless hot meals before the protective coating began to crack and peel. I purchased and used the Portmeirion Botanical Garden in late January 2018. I loved the clean look and detail of the floral prints. I still love print; HOWEVER, in early April, the protective layer began to crack and peel off. So I throw them in the trash about 90 days/nights after purchase. VERY disappointed and waste of money. (FYI: Son is NOW married, grown up and hasn't enjoyed more than 3-4 meals served on these napkins. We miss him but NOT the grocery bill!)
