I bought this last week in preparation for our weekend getaways and it has exceeded my expectations. I was just hoping it would help keep the car clean but the dog is more comfortable too. Our dog is incredibly scared in the car. She seems more comfortable in the hammock (because I don't think she can predict that she will fly forward or fall between the seats). The seat belt is great too. The included lock fitted easily and we were able to attach it to the seat belts. This was effective in discouraging the dog from going too far into the hammock during sudden stops. Very good for you. The product appears to be research. 10 hours round trip and no tears. However, my dog doesn't exercise much in the car as he hates it, so he may not be the best for the tear test. I can say that the mess of her saliva and hair has been curbed and it really is everything I was hoping for! The side flaps make it feel like it really covers the entire seat. Victory in everything! UPDATE: It's been over a year now, we use it CONSTANTLY and it's still holding up great.
