Review on Olympus Professional Dictation Recorder Charging by Steve Lawrence

Doesn't support MP3 pause and resume recording and icons to show current settings

Glad to know that MP3 support has been added to the DS-9500. However, when recording in MP3 format, the device does not allow you to pause and resume recording in the same file. This creates many small files for a dictation. Due to limitations in MP3 recording, it's important to have a setting that lets you toggle whether the device can play the next recorded file after the previous one has finished. Otherwise, the MP3 format becomes very cumbersome when listening to a single dictation due to the many small files. I hope Olympus listens to customer feedback and makes this important device optimization available in the next firmware update. If I'm not mistaken, this important setting was previously in the DS-5000. I also have a DS-7000. DS-7000 has better user interface than DS-9500. The DS-9500 really bugs me when I want to check the current modes like Mic mode, VCVA mode and playback speed. The Olympus design assumes that users remember all current settings. Although there is plenty of space at the top of the display, there are no icons to indicate the mode states mentioned above. To check the settings I have to press the F1, F2 and F3 keys. Unfortunately, pressing these buttons immediately changes the setting values. If there are no informative icons showing the current settings on the display, the F1, F2 and F3 buttons should show the current setting value and not change the setting values on the first press. Apparently, the design of the interface was not thought through to the smallest detail. . The user interface design is not intuitive, especially compared to the DS-7000. Many Thanks.
