I bought these plastic chair covers for my bedroom because our new kittens came into my room every morning and used the chairs as a scratching post. I've tried chair-scratch sprays and put catnip scratching posts all over the room, but they didn't stay away from the fabric of the chairs. These chairs sat in my room in pristine condition for years and the cats were on the verge of destroying them. I finally decided to try plastic lids, hoping they wouldn't like the slippery feel on my paws. BINGO! They don't scratch my chairs anymore, and apart from the squeaky noises in the morning, they don't even sit on the chairs anymore. Well, the chair covers have served me well. However, they don't fit my chairs perfectly and the photos show that the chairs have a plastic cover. The reality is that no one actually sits in these chairs and in fact only my husband and I see them standing in our bedroom. For us, the benefit of not being awakened by the sound of ripping fabric far outweighed the aesthetics of our chairs' plastic covers. I doubt I would feel the same way if these were chairs in our home where guests would see them. But I bought it so I can sleep in the morning and it works.
