Dishes have thick frosting; This is important if you like whiteware as it avoids silver marks on ceramics. I love that there are no dots in the middle because you don't want to distract from the color of the food but you still get some design on the table. The dots are blue, the plate is not very large 10 1/2 inches; this is also a plus for me because they are better for the table and the dishwasher. Very happy with them, it complements all the whites I use in my kitchen; It's fun to have a few pieces here and there with a bit of color.
