Review on 🦎 Lizard Skins Super Cache Saddle Bag: The Ultimate Gear Storage Solution by Derrick Lowell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nearly perfect. but doesn't hold the tail light securely

I bought a couple of medium sized saddlebags to compare. For the way it works as a pouch, this Lizard Skins Super Cache is a clear winner. For reference, it's smaller than the average Topeak aero wedge, but it actually fits more and fits easier. I attribute this to two things: a more rigid construction that retains its shape when loaded and the presence of two inner sleeve pockets (one neoprene and runs front to back on the top panel and the other is mesh on the bottom panel Plate). In my case that meant: large multi-tool, 700c tube, repair kit, tire levers, small flat first-aid kit, valve adapter. This left room for a fully-loaded car remote key fob, credit card and ID, and you could even tuck in a small headlight. It also attaches more rigidly to the bike to prevent side-to-side swaying while riding. This outperforms both versions of the Topeak Aero Wedge (the quick release version and the velcro version). One big disappointment though: the weak and flimsy strap on the back of the bag is completely unusable. The clip on the tail light hangs down, slides from side to side and pops off easily. The strap is terrible. Can be a deal breaker. Installing a seatpost light under your bag is a pretty big loss in safety and comfort. We hope that Lizard Skins will fix this issue in future releases. This is a silly way to ruin an otherwise very well thought out and very compact main compartment.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
