This swimsuit runs a little small. My average 7 year old is a size 8-10 and it fits just right. But it's not comfortable at all and a very high neckline around the hips. She feels uncomfortable wearing this without shorts. You can't wear underwear with him unless you have shorts to cover them up. She's wearing higher-waisted underwear (not the typical types you find at Target and Walmart with signs all over the place) and they're still visible. I would not recommend that.
