I had two large traditional cutlery trays in a drawer with 12 sets of dishes and other items that didn't fit. The whole box was full. The chef's knives were in another drawer of the trash can. I was concerned that two of these might not be enough. When they arrived I put all 12 pieces in and they are separate slots. I need it because I have soup spoons, teaspoons, salad forks and dinner forks. And also contains some of my small portions. I bought a sharper knife holder in the same style and now all three are lined up in the drawer with my cutlery and my kitchen knives with about a quarter of the drawer left. If your drawer is shallow this may not work and I had to move and shake a bit to make sure they weren't blocking the drawer opening but everything fitted and I couldn't be happier.
