I like these thread holders because they are the best option for the price. I like that the spacing between the dowels is large enough for the base of my Isacord thread. However, the design would be SIGNIFICANTLY improved if the pins (dowels) were twice as long. In its current form, the thread spool is twice as high as the stem, so it hangs forward (heavy point). This creates a lot of instability. If I want to remove a coil, I have to hold onto all the surrounding coils with all my strength in some places, otherwise 5-6 of them will just fall off when I try to remove one. If the teeth were the same length or slightly longer than the spool, this wouldn't have happened.
