Review on Merkur Progress Adjustable Safety Razor with Extended Handle by Sergio Wingate

update: SOUND; Shaving pleasure, long-term investment, sustainability

Edit update; Some reviewers have commented on the noise this razor makes when shaving, so on my last shave with this new razor I also noticed that there is actually a noise as the razor cuts the mustache. It's not only sound that goes through the face and bones to the ear, but also outside of the face. This means once the mustache is shaved down to the smoothness of the face, the sound stops. What an ingenious design! The high quality of this two-part MERKUR Progress Long Handle Adjustable Double Safety Razor (model no. 510) is evident from the very first shave. The design/engineering, weight and adjustability of this razor are probably among the best out there. I bought good quality DE blades and tried them on my previous safety razor (butterfly non-adjustable type) but the blades didn't work as expected. I tried them in this adjustable Merkur Progress and the difference was like day and night - the blades really are of the highest quality and that quality has brought us this razor. This is the best price I've found (the same razor is $10-$30 or more from other sellers). Sustainability - no more throwing away plastic blades and handles; There is no need to further contribute to the global plastic waste problem as this Merkur Progress adjustable razor will last for many years and the blades are inexpensive. I bought the long handle version (since I have used the long handle previously) but due to the superior design/technology of this razor it is balanced just right to allow for the right angles and movements in just 2-3 steps . fingers (the longer handle is for those with larger hands); So save some money (to buy good blades etc.) and buy the short handle version. With this razor, the shave is incredibly close; It's a pleasure to shave.
