So first let me say that the instructions don't apply to my situation. I have an old RCA TV without a Toslink connection. And I have an LG SL4Y soundbar with a Toslink port and a USB port. So I bought this automatic extractor that really works. So what I did after a few failed attempts, I connected the HDMI cable to the TV's HDMI Arc port and the other end to the auto extractor's HDMI input! I then placed the end of the Toslink on the input of the autoextractor. At that point I saw a red light on the other end of the Toslink! That's when I realized it would work. So I plugged the other end of the Toslink into the soundbar and there was sound from my TV!
