Review on ProCase Pencil Holder Generation Black by Dan Sturm

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Came broken. (Updated with replacement)

A corner is broken off, so unpacking is unusable. I guess that's what I get if I go for the cheaper option. I'll use something more expensive for that. Update: Support contacted me and gave me a free replacement. I also bought a $100 case from Apple so I'll go ahead and compare these 2 for you. There are 3 things I want to compare. First is the durability / the material the case is made of. The Apple One looks and feels good with the softer material, but I wouldn't be sure if it would protect over $1,000 worth of electronics. This case is made from a harder material, so it's better in that regard. Second, the iPad is mounted in a case. The Apple case simply pulls the iPad on. I don't know how secure it is, but I don't think it will stay locked if you drop it and grab it by the hinged lid. I have a feeling the force of his sudden stop mid-fall will disable the magnets. However, this case has corners that the iPad actually snaps into. It feels more secure, which again, if you're protecting an item this expensive, then you need it. Third, and important to me, is the Apple Pencil. The Apple case I got for up to $100 has NO space inside the case to secure the pencil. It can only be magnetized onto the iPad and will always stick out of the case. I do not like it at all. This case has space on the inner mount so the pencil can easily snap into place and be hidden/protected. Capability. However, it has 2 disadvantages. First, the case doesn't stay closed by any means like a strap or magnet. Something like a book or a binding. It might just pop up. The second minus is associated with the camera. The Apple case opens and folds into 3 different sections, so you can easily fold it partially and then take photos without closing the camera. This case covers the camera unless you hold it wide open, which is just awkward. All in all, you can't go wrong with this if you're on a tight budget. Just being able to hide the pen makes it better for me, but it's not perfect either. Hope that helps.
