Review on Shure WH20TQG Dynamic Headset Microphone by Timothy Schroeder

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Just a disappointment.

I tried this as a daily microphone solution in conjunction with my mbox which has pretty good internal preamps. The audio I get from it drops out. I was expecting limitations, but the signal was always so weak that I had to crank it up to 11 so my friends could hear me in dissonance. Recordings in Audacity come back grainy and with a very weak/unstable signal. I'm also not a big fan of a metal band that puts everything in your head. You can shape it a bit, but if it's too big or too tight you'll get slippage and headaches respectively, and it doesn't seem to want to hold its shape, so you're fumbling with it all the time. The band they send to try and get cable management is poor and doesn't get me to start with the mic section itself. Whatever they felt was necessary to secure the mic itself is a complete failure. It just can't always hold a fixed position, just like the mic/line itself. The mic line is too long. Floppy is the word. I've been trying to keep this up for a year because of the cost, but I just can't take it anymore. If you are a regular user, this device will compete with you both in terms of recording quality and stability.
