Kittens admitted for fun but be careful when assembling

My two cats were happy with my son's new kitten and refused her entry into THEIR apartment. So we had to buy a kitten from one of her own. We put it together in minutes (literally) with simple instructions. We only had a mess when I accidentally attached a piece upside down. (When setting up, pay close attention to where the carpet is!) This was quickly and easily remedied and we moved the scratching post down. It's not too heavy, but I wouldn't recommend carrying it alone as it's a little uncomfortable. The only problem we had was that we couldn't screw each piece tightly to the wood. I didn't like the "foot" moves. Right now the Eclipse only weighs 2 pounds so not enough weight to make a difference. However, I think my 15 pound American Bobtail might flip over if she jumps on it. The other pieces didn't seem to be attached very firmly and just kept spinning on the carpet. The upstairs cat bed keeps flipping over as the sides are just plush with no stability, but that probably won't matter for very agile cats. The kitten enjoys his new "palace" very much and jumps in at every sound of "danger" (aka anything that moves). She raises two paws to the scratching post. **************************** TO UPDATE **************** ***** ************************** Please note that this is (mostly) made of cardboard. That means if it gets wet, scratched too badly, etc., it CAN AND WILL fall apart. The entire top half fell apart and fell after the cat threw a small glass of water on the carpet. It doesn't take long for the cardboard to absorb it (even after you've cleaned up the spill) and dissolve. Keep that in mind when deciding where to place it. Keep it away from anything that could possibly get it wet. If you have a cat that has markings I would avoid this purchase. Having found the cardboard innards, it's now clear that we couldn't tighten every detail well. It's still a good product. Just don't expect it to last too long without taking the right precautions.
