It's true that the balled up crud these pads create isn't actually your skin, it's cellulose that sort of activates and curdles up when exposed to water or skin oils. A lot of facial products called gommage use this ingredient and the idea is that it provides gentle physical exfoliation.I don't think it performs any of the exfoliation in these pads, but whatever does is DOING THE JOB. My face felt like butter, and it wasn't irritated despite me being a regular tretinoin and azelaic acid user. I went from thinking it would be a fun gimmick to try, to fully planning on buying a whole pack.
