Back Pain Lifebuoy

We all need a good work chair and this is perfect for the purpose. Good - it's durable. The base is so strong that not a single dent is left on it. There are cars that have door panels that are thinner than the metal base, no kidding. Great - it makes me sit up straight. Three months passed and I changed my husbandry habits. Prior to this purchase, I had to see a chiropractor twice a week for a few months. I knew it was my crappy office chair that was wrecking my already sore back. Last year I got a new job that forces me to sit at my desk full time, which my body just isn't used to. And the old chair was not suitable for sitting eight or ten hours a day. I'm not tall at 5ft 6ft 125lbs so sitting for long periods is usually fine if the chair is up to the task. This is suitable for this. Not good - a key screw was missing rendering the chair unusable until a new screw was supplied. A simple call to the support number, a quick explanation and after about four days a small package arrived with all the mounting hardware - all the screws, caps etc. It was overkill but ok I appreciated the response and was satisfied. Not very good either - the fabric on the knee pad is wrinkled. I know how to fix it, and it's a pity the designers themselves didn't do it. The friction of kneeling all day makes the fabric sag. As with any decent sofa or chair, there is always a second bottom layer of fabric that allows the top layer to slide down easily. This is clearly not the case. Because of the memory foam, the fabric actually sticks to the foam and essentially gets stuck in it. I can pick it up and bring it back. Or rather, when I feel like it, I take off the knee pad, take it apart, put a layer of fabric underneath, and then put it back together. Did. Actually NOT good - the chair was not level, leaning to one side. I didn't really notice it at first, maybe the first day or two, but then I noticed a dull ache in my back that I knew wasn't from sitting up straight. I looked at the chair and yes, it was tilted - noticeably so. However, my dear husband is a mad genius, he took a piece of metal the diameter of a small note and the thickness of a nickel and placed it under the support post on one side. Problem solved. Previously leaning, now standing. It changed everything a bit. I think my chair was made on a Friday or Monday and it lacked the quality control it should have had! Lastly, no, this chair isn't for everyone, but for me it's a lifesaver. I have a terrible back. Fractured three vertebrae over twenty years ago in addition to mild scoliosis and now the arthritis in my spine has turned my back into a real mess. It was very important to find a chair that I could sit in for hours and do my work. And now I only have to see a chiropractor about every six weeks instead of twice a week. THAT makes this chair worth every penny. But you have to work hard to sit on such a chair! If you're the kind of person who always bends, forget it. You will never benefit from this chair and you will find it terrible. I was willing to invest in my core, sit up and work on it and now I really love this chair. (Despite the lack of screw and side tilt!) I almost never use my back. I recline every now and then when I'm taking a short break or something, but otherwise the recline doesn't make much sense. Still, sometimes it's nice to have - but leaning back on it is a pretty awkward position.
