This laser runs on only 5 volts. It will burn cardboard with 5 volts. At that voltage, it draws about 0.63 milliamps, and as the voltage increases, the current actually decreases. You can power this directly from a power source and hold it in your hand and burn with your hand. The beam comes out as a line. Focus shortens the length of the line and creates a very hot spot. This thing is dangerous and you should never use it without glasses. Never use near flammable objects and when it is on it looks like a lightsaber so be careful not to destroy other nearby objects. If you use this indoors, activate the smoke detector.
