I used a "passive POE" injector with 1350 feet of this cable, including span-to-span connections (female/female and male RJ45) to a DROK Boost-buck converter for charging the battery on summit mountains with a connected continuous load of 25 watts. Very low voltage drop, this material is sturdy but easy to use and I love the red color of what I'm doing with it. It's 18/2 and I could probably get by with either cable, but I think it was worth the cost in this case.
