I was a little wary of this buckle because of all the conflicting reviews but I am happy with the results. However, I can see that the success of this thing depends on the belt. I am using it on a Colombia but the important part is the belt is fairly thick. It measures a heavy 1/8 inch thick. This pinch mechanism is what holds it in place. All dimensions on that mechanism are fixed. So, if the belt is the right thickness it works just fine but if the belt were much thinner I can see where it would slip. The same conditions would allow it to pop open. It also wouldn't close properly if the belt were much thicker. One guy mentioned that the mechanism was designed backwards. It is not. It is a toggle mechanism. Meaning that it rotates just past center, locking it in place. But, again, the belt has to be the right thickness. I have been wearing it for about a week now and will amend this review if something changes.
