I've had this VCR for about two years. Commercial progress stops working properly and I get error messages and the ribbon appears for no reason. However, I record every day and then watch shows at night, so the machine wears out a lot and probably needs a good cleaning. My only real issue with the machine is that it doesn't pull the channels like it should. For this reason, I only record programs that I want to watch and record. I use my SONY to record all the shows that I want to keep and have a copy of. However, for tape-to-tape dubbing or watching commercial tapes, this is a great machine. It's very easy to use and I love that I never have to turn the clock back, not even for Daylight Saving Time. But I bought it to shoot from the TV and it's a very poor device for that. Additional insulation or whatever is needed to block interference can be used.
