Review on ๐Ÿ”ฆ Hella 003427811 190 x 132mm H4 High and Low Beam Headlamp Kit by Jim Worthington

Focusing issues and too much vertical distance between high and low beam

These Hella ECE bulbs are an improvement over traditional high beams, but the improvement is not significant. The included bulbs are average, but a quality set of H4/9003 bulbs like the Phillips X-Treme Vision or Tungsram/GE Nighthawk Xenon will easily fix this as the trade-off is shorter bulb life. The problem is that the Hella ECE bulbs aren't as well focused as they should be and the vertical distance between the high and low beams is too great, which means that if the low beam is aimed where it should be, that High beam is too high. . , and if you point the high beams where they should be, the low beams are too low. The Hella SAE/DOT version of this kit is the best choice. The Hella SAE/DOT version does not have the focus and vertical jump problems like the ECE kit. Combine the Hella SAE/DOT version with quality bulbs such as the Phillips or GE/Tungsram bulbs mentioned above and you get a better upgrade over traditional sealed beams than with a Hella ECE kit. However, if you are determined to use ECE lenses instead of SAE/DOT lenses, look for a Bosch ECE kit, although it's harder to find.
