Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Enhance Your Xbox 360 Experience with Zoom for Kinect by Nick Singh

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent, could have been better but works for us in Dance Central 2

I had high hopes for Zoom before it was released; I wanted to make better use of the Kinect since I didn't have a large room, even rearranging the furniture still didn't give me the 6v6 I needed to play (I'd say more like 7v7). Basically, the Kinect was just gathering dust, as I've heard from a few others. Anyway, I bought the Zoom and I have to say it's not as great as I hoped it would be, but it's not horrible (at least the one I got). ) as others say. First you need to be careful when you turn on Zoom, Xbox also needs to be turned off before turning it on. It comes with a "screen protector" which I didn't install (I'm not sure I'd put up with all the bad reviews). The first few times, the Kinect acted strangely, spinning up and down trying to find me. Finally it started working as it should, didn't really mess anything up and it works exactly as it's supposed to. This allows the Kinect to have a wider/higher view and works really well for the two games we have (Adventures and Dance Central 2). However, you have to be pretty close to the Kinect, and it doesn't seem accurate enough for two-player play. However, I only have to stand four feet away with a player, which is great for playing and changing in Dance Central 2. Also, the first few times Kinect couldn't tell who I was, but finally it looks like it. found out who i was connected to zoom. Keep in mind that just like with the Kinect itself, you need "correct setup". We have a light in the background that's now shining straight into the Kinect thanks to Zoom's wide view, so we need to turn it off. Tracking seems almost as good as Kinect alone, but it happens to choose to include other objects when using zoom, like the floor highlighted in Dance Central 2, no idea why it includes that. But overall, since I really only use it for one game, the low price is worth it. Microsoft will likely release an improved Kinect with the next console next year, so we've got something to look forward to, let's hope next time they have a wider lens, and we'll try not to cry when we're spending $150 per console . dust collector. Zoom works somewhat, but doesn't fully address Kinect's limitations.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
